Nature Park Medvednica Nature Park Medvednica

Medvednica Orchid Explorer

Did you know that orchids grow on Medvednica? We find them not only in the humid rainforests of the Amazon, but also on the dry continental grasslands of Medvednica. We monitor them in order to react in time to a potential decrease in their population. Given that the Adriatic lizard orchid (Himantoglossum adriaticum) is best seen during the short flowering period, we need your help in order to be able to find and monitor a sufficient number of individuals.

In the search for the Adriatic lizard orchid, you will also find other types of orchids that are no less beautiful than the well-known Amazonian orchids.

What does the Medvednica Orchid Researcher do?

  • searches the field
  • measures and records the characteristics of individuals (size, position)
  • records data in prepared forms
  • takes photos of individuals
